Suspect Charged After Shooting At Tuscaloosa Shell Station

A suspect has been charged after one person was injured in a shooting at a Tuscaloosa gas station Monday morning.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A suspect has been charged after one person was injured in a shooting at a Tuscaloosa gas station Monday morning.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media Tuesday morning that Tuscaloosa Police officers responded at approximately 10:30 a.m. to the Shell Gas station located at 3112 Greensboro Avenue on a shooting.

Kennedy said one 18-year-old man had been taken to DCH Regional Medical Center by private vehicle and was found to have injuries not believed to be non-life-threatening.

Investigators interviewed the victim, witnesses, and processed the scene for physical and video evidence, before warrants were obtained on 19-year-old Jason Martez Curry-Benson.

He is charged with attempted murder and discharging into an occupied building.

Kennedy said Curry-Benson was taken into custody with the assistance of the US Marshall’s Task Force Monday evening.

He remains in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, with his bond to be set at a later date.
