Suspect Charged In Tuscaloosa Hit-And-Run That Seriously Injured Woman

Here's the latest on a hit-and-run that seriously injured a woman and resulted in charges for a man who is believed to have left the scene.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Police say a suspect is in custody after a 34-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries Sunday night when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing Greensboro Avenue.

TPD said the crash happened about 9:28 p.m. at the intersection of James I. Harrison Parkway and Greensboro Avenue when the driver turned right from James I. Harrison Parkway to head north on Greensboro and hit the woman.

The woman was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center and later flown to a hospital in Huntsville.

The driver, identified as 44-year-old Granville Jermaine Hardy, initially pulled over at a nearby business but drove away as officers arrived.

TPD said he was later arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.

Hardy was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on the felony charge, with his bond set at $2,500.

Investigators said further charges are possible but investigators do not believe he was impaired.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Division is investigating the crash.
