Suspect In Custody After Fatal Shooting At Forrester Gardens

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The suspect in a fatal shooting at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex has been taken into custody in Washington State.

As Patch previously reported, Cedric McClinton Jr. was determined to be the suspect after the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded at 11:02 a.m. on Dec. 11, 2024, to a shooting call at Forrester Gardens on James I. Harrison Jr. Parkway.

TPD officers found that a 37-year-old man had been shot, before having him transported to DCH Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said law enforcement had been actively searching for McClinton before he was taken into custody on Feb. 5 by the Kent Police Department in Washington State.

Kennedy said McClinton is custody and awaiting extradition procedures, after which he will be returned to Tuscaloosa.

McClinton will be booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail with no bond, per Aniah’s Law.
