As Patch previously reported, Tuscaloosa Police officers and Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit investigators responded around 9 p.m. to the 2200 Block of Reece Blvd on the initial call of a shooting.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multiagency unit, told local media in an update Tuesday morning that a 19-year-old Christopher King Jr. was found with critical gun wounds and ultimately did not survive his injuries.
Kennedy said a person of interest in the fatal shooting has been located, before saying the investigation is active and ongoing.

He did not elaborate on the circumstances of the shooting.
Kennedy then said those who witnessed the incident or who may have any information is urged to contact the VCU at (205) 464-8690.
