Three Charged For Fatal Shooting At Tuscaloosa Apartment Complex

As Patch previously reported, police responded the evening of Jan. 28 around 10:24 p.m. at Landmark Apartments, where a single victim was found shot to death.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multi-agency unit, said the victim β 30-year-old Demarkus Hall β was not a resident of the apartment complex but was visiting friends there.
Kennedy went on to say investigators determined that Hall was allegedly targeted for a robbery and was subsequently shot, with illegal drugs being involved.

"This has been a very complex investigation, and it is still ongoing," he said. "The suspects developed have extensive criminal histories and took great pains to obscure their crime, destroy evidence, and elude capture."
Kennedy then said the investigation was ongoing and that investigators believe that additional individuals have information.
"Citizen involvement was crucial to this case," he said. "We appreciate the support of the community and want to encourage that support now and in the future."
Kyandre Grant, 44, is charged with capital murder, with the underlying felony of robbery.
Grant was taken into custody this week by the US Marshallβs Smokey Mountain Regional Task Force and the Shelbyville (Tennessee) Police Department.
Kennedy said Grant's prior offenses include robbery, domestic violence, and murder datying back to a 1996 murder conviction where he received a 20-year.
He then said following extradition proceedings in Tennessee, Grant will be transported to the Tuscaloosa County to be held without bond.
Rashad Aaron, 31, was charged with felony murder and robbery, with his release revoked on a prior first-degree burglary charge. He was arrested on Feb. 6 and is being held without bond, pursuant to Aniah's Law.
Aaron also has prior offenses including robbery and burglary.
A third suspect β Jamil Prentice, 34 β was arrested on Feb. 1 and charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. Prentice was released on $60,000 bond but is back in custody in another county on unrelated charges.
