Tide Baseball Improves To 5-0 With Blowout Of Alabama State
Alabama baseball improved to 5-0 with a run-ruled 15-1 victory over Alabama State Wednesday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Alabama baseball improved to 5-0 with a run-ruled 15-1 victory over Alabama State Wednesday night in front of 2,885 fans at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

The Crimson Tide recorded 15 hits in the non-conference win, including six for extra bases, while Zach Kittrell (1-0) made his first start as a Tide pitcher, retiring all six batters he faced, including two strikeouts.

Austin Morris, Beau Bryans, and Anthony Pesci also each pitched scoreless innings in relief.
Outfielder Bryce Fowler went 2-for-4 with six RBIs, including a two-run single in the second inning and a grand slam in the third.

Richie Bonomolo Jr. finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs, while Brennen Norton, Kade Snell, and Will Plattner each contributed with multiple hits and one RBI each.
“It was another good night,” Alabama head coach Rob Vaughn said. “I’m really proud of the approach to the game tonight. Offensively, we were relentless, grinding out at-bats until the game was over.”
Alabama jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Coleman Mizell doubled to bring in Bryce Fowler, who reached base on a walk. Alabama then scored five runs in the bottom of the third, capped by Fowler’s grand slam to center field.
Alabama continued to pile it on the visiting Hornets, including a two-run rally in the fourth and a three-run fifth, with Bonomolo Jr. driving in two runs with a double.
In the sixth inning, pinch-hitter Peyton Steele doubled off the right field wall and was driven in by a sacrifice fly from Will Hodo.
The Hornets' only run came in the seventh inning after a two-out, RBI single, making the score 15-1.
The Crimson Tide will now head to Jacksonville, Florida on Thursday for the Jax College Baseball Classic, with the first game set for 5 p.m. Friday when Alabama takes on Coastal Carolina.
