The sophomore from West Pokot County, Kenya, defended her national title in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase with a record-shattering time of 8:58.15 β€” the fastest in collegiate history.

The run secured Lemngole's second consecutive outdoor steeplechase title and marked her third individual NCAA championship of the 2024–25 season. This followed victories in the 2024 cross country championships and the 2025 indoor 5,000 meters.

With the win, Lemngole became a four-time national champion and now owns four of the five fastest women’s steeplechase times in NCAA history.

UA says Lemngole's latest accolade completes a rare sweep of the South Region Women’s Athlete of the Year honors after she previously earned the distinction for the 2024 cross country season and again during the 2025 indoor campaign. This run included a national title in the 5,000 meters and a runner-up finish in the 3,000.

Lemngole is also a finalist for the prestigious 2025 Honda Sport Award for Track and Field after going undefeated during the outdoor season. On this remarkable run, she captured wins in the 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters and five steeplechase races, including titles at both the SEC Championships and the NCAA Championships.

In the classroom, Lemngole also earned her third SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, in addition to being named to the First Team All-SEC and earning USTFCCCA All-America honors.
