Tide's Lauren Johnson Earns SEC Co-Freshman Of The Week

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Fresh off an undefeated opening weekend for Alabama softball, freshman Lauren Johnson was announced by the Southeastern Conference as one of two SEC Freshman of the Week honorees.

A native of Franklin, Tennessee, Johnson led the team with a .545 batting average on six hits along with four runs scored, two RBIs and three stolen bases during the Buzz Classic in Atlanta.

Johnson went 3-for-3 in her first career start against Longwood on Friday, logging a pair of stolen bases and adding another multi-hit performance in the rematch against the Lancers on Saturday.
UA says two of Johnson's six hits over the weekend were doubles, making her one of four Tide players to earn a pair of doubles over the five games in Atlanta.

Johnson and the Tide will make their home debut over the weekend, playing five games at the Easton Bama Bash, which kicks off Friday, Feb. 16 at Rhoads Stadium.
