Tide's Ryan Williams Named Semifinalist For Shaun Alexander Award
Williams has been named a semifinalist for the Shaun Alexander Award, presented annually to the most outstanding freshman.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Maxwell Football Club announced on Wednesday that Alabama freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams has been named a semifinalist for the Shaun Alexander Award, presented annually to the most outstanding freshman in college football.

Williams is one of 14 players selected for the honor, with finalists named on Dec. 4 and the winner announced on Dec. 26.

The award is named after former Alabama running back Shaun Alexander, who went on to become the MVP of the NFL in 2005.
The standout from Saraland, Williams has been Alabama’s primary target at wide receiver during the 2024 campaign, leading the team with 702 receiving yards, 35 catches and 7 touchdowns.

Williams has also contributed one rushing touchdown, four punt returns and two kickoff returns.
Williams is also the third Alabama player to earn recognition for the award, following previous winners Will Anderson Jr. in 2020 and Caleb Downs in 2023.
