Tuscaloosa Police Identify 19-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck And Killed Saturday
A Tallapoosa County woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Jack Warner Parkway yesterday

TUSCALOOSA, AL— The Tuscaloosa Police Department says a 19-year-old woman from Tallapoosa County died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday afternoon while crossing Jack Warner Parkway near Queen City Avenue before the Alabama-LSU football game.

In an update after Patch reported the road closure yesterday, TPD said the woman was crossing Jack Warner Parkway at the intersection with Queen City Avenue when she was hit by a westbound vehicle driven by a 40-year-old Tuscaloosa woman.

The driver reportedly stopped nearby and spoke with officers immediately after the incident.
TPD said officers and paramedics were called to the scene at 4:17 p.m. and the victim was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

She was publicly identified Sunday as Megan Elisabeth Giles of Jackson's Gap.
Jack Warner Parkway was temporarily closed in both directions as investigators processed the scene before reopening later Saturday evening.
Members of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit responded and are conducting a follow-up investigation.
