TPL Vending Library Opening Thursday At Bobby Miller Center

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Public Library (TPL) will host a grand opening event for its new Vending Library machine Thursday at the Bobby Miller Activity Center.

The event will begin at 10 a.m.

TPL says library staff will be on hand to demonstrate how to use the new machine and to sign up residents for library cards.
The self-service cabinet is designed for indoor use and provides users with access to a curated selection of library materials, including adult fiction and nonfiction, children’s fiction, picture books, and pre-K reading materials.

TPL says the Vending Libraries allow patrons to browse, check out and return items directly at the machines using their library cards.
The Vending Libraries will be accessible during normal operating hours and residents do not need to be members of PARA to use them. The only requirement is a TPL library card.
The Vending Library initiative was made possible through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds approved by the Tuscaloosa County Commission.
