TPL's Friends Of The Library Breaks Annual Sales Record
The Tuscaloosa Public Library Friends of the Library on Friday announced it had surpassed $100,000 to break its record for annual sales.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Public Library Friends of the Library (FOL) on Friday announced it had surpassed $100,000 to break its record for annual sales at the FOL Bookstore during the 2023-24 fiscal year.

“This is an exciting achievement for us,” FOL Board of Directors Chair Bess Miller said. “We have been close to this goal several times, and we are thrilled to have finally reached it. This accomplishment wouldn’t be possible without the support of the West Alabama community and our dedicated volunteers who make the bookstore successful.”

The FOL says the proceeds from the bookstore directly support the Tuscaloosa Public Library’s mission of community enrichment and enlightenment, with FOL contributing an average of $90,000 annually to the library.
“I’m so thankful for our amazing Friends of the Library organization,” TPL Executive Director Jennifer Pearson said. “Their support means the world to me and TPL. The impact of our 100 percent volunteer-run bookstore is truly remarkable, showcasing the power of community in supporting our library.”

The Friends of the Library said that over the last 12 years it has generated over $1 million for the Tuscaloosa Public Library.
The FOL Bookstore is located at the back left corner of the Tuscaloosa Public Library on Jack Warner Parkway and is staffed entirely by volunteers.
All sales are conducted in cash or by check, as credit and debit cards are not accepted.
