TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa announced on Wednesday that it is now accepting resumes for individuals interested in serving on the Historic Preservation Commission.

The city says members of the commission will serve a three-year term, where they will review and vote on proposed improvements and developments within the city’s historic districts.

Candidates will then be nominated by the mayor and appointed by the City Council.
The Historic Preservation Commission is tasked with ensuring new projects align with the character of Tuscaloosa’s historic areas, along with evaluating development proposals.

Commission members also assist property owners in planning and designing projects that preserve the distinctive historical charm of the city.
Applicants must be a resident of Tuscaloosa and have training or experience in fields such as history, architecture, architectural history, American studies, cultural geography, anthropology, planning, archaeology, law, or other related disciplines.
Prospective members must also be available to attend monthly meetings, typically held on the second Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m.
Resumes must be submitted by May 31.
