Tuscaloosa-Area Home Sales Up Nearly 11% in 2021

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Homes sales in Tuscaloosa for 2021 were up 10.8% through December, according to the latest data from the Tuscaloosa Association of Realtors.

The association also reported that December home sales in the area decreased 8.4% year-over-year, from 310 closed transactions to 284, while sales increased 8.8% from November.

Looking at year-over-year trends, recent data shows the demand for new homes was down 8%, while the supply of homes on the market decreased by 28% over this time. It should also come as no surprise, due to rampant inflation, that prices are up 12% in the Tuscaloosa area.

According to the Tuscaloosa Association of Realtors, the median sales price in December of a home in Tuscaloosa was $234,450 — marking an increase of 11.7% from a year ago and an increase of 2% from November.
What's more, it was reported that homes sold in December averaged 35 days on the market, selling eight days faster than in December 2020.
