Tuscaloosa County EMA Gives Storm Damage Updates; Nearly 3K Without Power

Emergency officials have provided updates on a series of powerful storms that caused minor tree and structure damage in the area.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa County Emergency Management Agency provided updates Thursday evening after a powerful line of storms moved over west Alabama, causing minor damage to some structures and trees.

Tuscaloosa County is currently under a Flash Flood Warning that is set to expire just after midnight. Thus far on Thursday, there have been two tornado warnings issued for opposite ends of the county, both of which were allowed to expire without causing substantial damage.

As Patch reported earlier this evening, minor storm damage was confirmed on the Northside High School campus in northern Tuscaloosa County Thursday afternoon. In neighboring Fayette County, the NOAA Storm Prediction Center has received reports of trees down and structural damage in the Boley Springs community.

Additionally, there are 2,692 Tuscaloosa County residents with power as of the publication of this update.

  • Mormon Road and Kemp Road: Tree blocking car door
  • Hargrove Road and Skyland Boulevard: Tree on road hit by car
  • Springhill Church Road at Moccasin Branch Road: Road washed out.
  • Gilmore Mine Road in Brookwood: Power lines down.
  • 18th Street East: Power lines down.
  • Lock 17 at Buddy Jones Strip Pit: Trees in the road.
  • Warrior Trail in Brookwood: Tree on a power line.
  • Highway 69 N in the northbound lane: A tree in the road.
  • Five Points in Tuscaloosa: Storm debris in the road.
  • Hemmond Drive in Brookwood: Trees on powerlines.
  • Westside Road and Hammond Road: Trees down.
  • North Johns Road: Tree down.
  • Highway 43 North near 203 Mile Marker: Tree Down.
  • Highway 43 North just south of Paul Howell Road in Northport: Tree down blocking road.
