Tuscaloosa Man Charged With Attempted Murder After One Injured In Overnight Shooting

A suspect has been charged with attempted murder and other offenses after a man was shot multiple times Tuesday night.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A suspect has been charged with attempted murder and other offenses after a man was shot multiple times Tuesday night.

Captain Marty Sellers of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit told local media Wednesday morning that Tuscaloosa Police officers first responded at approximately 10:30 p.m. to a gas station in the 1500 Block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in Tuscaloosa on a shooting.

Sellers said the responding officers found a 29-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.

The victim was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment and Sellers said he is in stable condition.

The suspect was later identified as Jermaine Lockett, 29, of Tuscaloosa.

Lockett was charged with attempted murder, tampering with physical evidence and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.

"Lockett and the victim had issues in the past and this is what is believed to have caused the shooting, " Sellers said.

Lockett's bond has not yet been set.
