TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Tuscaloosa pastor has been charged with electronic solicitation of a child and traveling to meet a minor for a sex act.

The West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force announced that James Gorman Houston III, 66, was arrested after an undercover operation conducted Tuesday.

Patch has confirmed that he has since been released after his bond set by a judge.

Houston is the son of former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Gorman Houston Jr., and once served as a pastor at First United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa.

It is unclear at this time if he is currently employed by a church.

Houston has also worked as an instructor at the University of Alabama.

In 2010, AL.com reported that Houston served as pastor of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church in the Mobile area but resigned amid controversy after allegations arose that he violated ethical standards.
