Captain Phil Simpson, commander of the multi-agency unit, said ABI investigators suspected the woman was a possible human trafficking victim and contacted the task force.

Spencer was then arrested and, pursuant to Aniah's Law, was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond.

A judge will consider bond for Spencer at a later date.

What's more, Simpson said volunteers with Trafficking Hope β€” a volunteer organization that routinely works with the Task Force to provide aftercare services to trafficking victims β€” assisted the victim in obtaining medical care and other immediate needs.

Simpson went on to say that any other victims or people with knowledge about human trafficking cases can call (205) 349-2121.
