TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter is waiving all adoption fees through Saturday, June 21, as the nonprofit works to help ease overcrowding.

Shelter officials say this was prompted by the number of animals arriving daily, which has outpaced its ability to safely house them.

Through Saturday, June 21, all adoption fees will be waived for every available animal at the shelter, located at 3140 35th Street.

Visiting hours are from noon to 6 p.m. daily, except Wednesdays when the shelter is closed.

Prospective adopters can also preview pets online here.

Shelter staff are also encouraging residents to consider fostering, volunteering or simply spreading the word.
