TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa is seeking applicants to fill positions on the Historic Preservation Commission, a volunteer board that helps guide development and preservation efforts in the city’s historic districts.

Commission members serve three-year terms and are responsible for reviewing and voting on proposed improvements and developments within Tuscaloosa’s historic neighborhoods.

The group also provides advice to property owners on projects to ensure they align with the unique character of the city’s historic areas.
Applicants must reside within Tuscaloosa city limits and have training or experience in fields such as history, architecture, architectural history, American studies, cultural geography, cultural anthropology, planning, archaeology or law.

Members must also be available to attend monthly meetings, typically held on the second Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m.
Candidates will be reviewed and nominated by Mayor Walt Maddox before appointment by the Tuscaloosa City Council.
Resumes will be accepted through Nov. 18 on the city's website.
