TUSCALOOSA, AL — Wintry conditions are here for many across the Tuscaloosa Patch coverage area so here's a look at the latest updates.

STAY WARM: Tuscaloosa County EMA and the Compassion Coalition are providing warming stations in the City of Tuscaloosa through Wednesday, Jan. 17. Those in need of assistance are asked to contact call the Tuscaloosa Police Department at (205) 349-2121 or Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue at (205) 248-5420.

The area remains under a hard freeze warning until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

  • No ALDOT reports of ice on roadways.

Other updates

  • Shelton State has announced it will remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 17. SSCC says all scheduled activities are also canceled.
  • The Tuscaloosa County School System will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
  • Tuscaloosa City Schools will have a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Transportation routes will run two hours later than normal and breakfast will be served to students.
  • Stillman College suspended all campus operations on Tuesday and classes will resume on Wednesday.
  • The Tuscaloosa City Board of Education meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. has been canceled. The rescheduled date has yet to be announced.
  • The University of Alabama has suspended all normal operations for Tuesday and all classes are canceled. University offices and programs will also be closed. UA will resume normal operations at 4 a.m. on Wednesday.
  • Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court has canceled all jury trials this week, so jurors are excused and do not need to report to the county courthouse.
  • All City of Tuscaloosa and City of Northport garbage collection routes have been delayed by a day. Monday routes in Northport will be collected on Wednesday.
  • DCH Health System says some services have delayed opening on Tuesday until 10 a.m., including West Alabama Urology Associates, DCH Health & Wellness Clinic, DCH Laboratory Outpatient Service Center and the Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center.
  • Tonight's Alabama men's basketball game will be played as scheduled with additional safety modifications, per the university.

ALDOT reported ice and snow on the roadway Tuesday causing hazardous road conditions at the following locations. These locations could also present issues on Wednesday.

  • Martin Road was deemed impassable.
  • Interstate 359 at Exit 1 at 35th Street in Tuscaloosa.
  • Alabama Highway 171 at U.S. Highway 43
  • Lurleen B Wallace Boulevard at University Boulevard.
  • U.S. Highway 82 at Alabama Highway 69.
  • Alabama Highway 171 at Acker Road/Sullivan Road
  • I-20/59 at Exit 62: Holley Springs Lane
  • U.S. Highway 82 at Minas Road.
  • Alabama Highway 69 at Old Greensboro Road.
  • U.S. Highway 82 at Sam Sutton Road
  • U.S. Highway 11 at Dudley Road
