Two Charged For Separate Weekend Shootings In Cottondale, Tuscaloosa

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit on Tuesday announced arrests in two unrelated weekend shootings that left several people injured.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit on Tuesday announced arrests in two unrelated weekend shootings that left several people injured.

As Patch previously reported, the first shooting occurred Saturday around 8 p.m. at the Cottondale Efficiency Apartments on Kyle Court.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multiagency unit, told local media that Tuscaloosa Police and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire and found multiple vehicles and a residence had been struck by bullets.

He also said several people sustained minor injuries, believed to be caused by broken glass or shrapnel. No one was reported to have been shot.

Investigators on Monday arrested Cordarius King, 35, and charged him with attempted murder and two counts of shooting into occupied vehicles. He was booked into jail with no bond, and additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.

In a separate case, Tuscaloosa Police responded just after midnight Sunday to a shooting in the 800 block of 33rd Avenue. One person was found with multiple gunshot wounds but is expected to recover.

Kennedy said Ladarrious Price, 32, was arrested Monday night and charged with attempted murder.

He was also jailed with no bond.
