TUSCALOOSA, AL — Two people are dead and two children hospitalized following a single-vehicle crash in Bibb County on New Year's Eve.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said on Wednesday that the fatal crash occurred at approximately 2:52 p.m. Tuesday when a 2008 Lexus ES 350 driven by Jedarius K. Chancey left the roadway, struck a ditch and then a tree.

Chancey, 31, of Huntsville, was pronounced dead at the scene, along with Jasmine S. McGary, 27, of Selma — a passenger in the Lexus.

ALEA then said additional passengers in the Lexus, a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old, were both injured and transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama Highway 139, approximately 15 miles east of Centreville in Bibb County.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
