UA's Culverhouse LIFT Program Offering Learning Sessions

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama on Wednesday announced that registration is now open for free community learning sessions for youth, seniors and veterans through UA’s Culverhouse College of Business.

Culverhouse LIFT is a public service initiative that provides free classes for low-income and disadvantaged individuals who would otherwise not have access to such courses and education.

UA says LIFT supports the nonprofit and small business community through financial, organizational, administrative and general business coaching and assistance.

UA students work one-on-one with community participants in areas like K-12 tutoring and computer skills such as Word, Excel and smartphone usage as part of the sessions.

LIFT classes will begin in February.

Those interested in participating can register here.

LIFT is offering these learning resources to the public this spring:

  • Youth tutoring at Northport Community Center (six classes)
  • Classes at Holt, Northport and McAbee Senior Centers
  • Veterans classes in Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Hoover and Montgomery
