TUSCALOOSA, AL β An undercover operation in Tuscaloosa resulted in citations being issued to clerks at two different stores for selling alcohol to minors.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department said its Vice Unit conducted an undercover operation Thursday targeting the sale of alcohol to minors, with an underage individual attempting to buy alcohol at 17 retail and convenience stores across the city.

TPD says store staff refused to sell alcohol to the minor at 15 of those locations.
Police also said two clerks working at different stores sold alcohol to the underage buyer and were each issued citations for selling alcohol to a minor.

The two clerks will be required to appear in Tuscaloosa Municipal Court.
βWe conducted these compliance checks in response to several complaints from the community,β TPD Vice Unit commander Captain Phil Simpson said. βWe were pleased to find so many businesses were unwilling to sell to minors."
