Unique Permanently Closes Bar On The Strip

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A popular dive bar in a well-known spot near the University of Alabama has closed its doors for good.

Unique — famously located on the corner Red Drew Avenue and University Boulevard — made the announcement on Facebook over the weekend that it planned to close after Saturday.

"It is with heavy hearts we announce we are closing our doors permanently after today," the post said. "We want to thank all of those for the love and support over the last four years, it’s been an amazing ride."

Unique has been in operation since 2021 after filling the location left when Egan's closed following more than four decades on The Strip.

It's unclear what prompted the closure and any future plans for the bar are unclear at this time.
