Investigation Underway After Body Found In Lake Tuscaloosa Friday Morning
The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit and Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Dive Team responded Friday to Sharpes Landing in northern Tuscaloosa County.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) and Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Dive Team responded Friday to a call of a body found near a boat landing at Lake Tuscaloosa.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Violent Crimes Unit, said Tuscaloosa Police responded at approximately 10:30 a.m. to the call at the boat landing located on Sharpes Lake Road alongside Lake Tuscaloosa — referred to as Sharpe's Landing.
Kennedy said a deceased individual had been found by workers who had arrived to do some work on the docks.

"At this time there is no reason to believe that this is a criminal matter, and out of respect for the privacy of the family, no other information will be released," Kennedy said.
The identity of the individual found has not been publicly released at this time and Kennedy said the cause of death is not known at this time.
