West Alabama Young Leaders Award Recipients Revealed

The United Way of West Alabama's Young Leaders Society this week announced the 9th Annual West Alabama Young Leaders Awards.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The United Way of West Alabama’s (UWWA) Young Leaders Society this week announced the 9th Annual West Alabama Young Leaders Awards (WAYLAs).

The nonprofit says those receiving the honor will be recognized during an awards luncheon on Wednesday, March 19 in the Embassy Suites Ballroom in downtown Tuscaloosa.

The United in Service Awards will also be presented to five individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to improving the quality of life in West Alabama through their volunteerism, community service, corporate stewardship, or government advocacy.

UWWA says the 2024-25 United in Service Award recipients are Allison Brantley, Stanley “Buck” Buchanon, Libby Cochrane, Fran Reilly Powe, and Josh Taylor.

The David Reynolds Inspiration Award will also be presented to Executive Director of Strategic Communications at City of Tuscaloosa Richard Rush for his "influential leadership and inspiring contribution to the community."

DCH Health System President & CEO Kristina Keefer will serve as special guest emcee for the event.

"The West Alabama Young Leaders Awards recognize the next generation of changemakers who are making a lasting impact in our community," UWWA President & CEO Jackie Wuska said. "Through their dedication to service, advocacy, and corporate stewardship, these outstanding individuals are shaping a brighter future for West Alabama. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and the difference they are making in the lives of others."
