Winter Weather Closures In Tuscaloosa: Live Updates

Here are the latest updates as the potential for winter weather impacts is expected to increase on Tuesday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Meteorologists are calling for potential winter weather impacts for west Alabama for the second time in as many weeks as a system moves over a large part of the state.

The National Weather Service (NWS) forecast office in Birmingham says snow accumulations will be possible into Tuesday night, primarily for the central and southern parts of the state.

Tuscaloosa County will be under a Cold Weather Advisory beginning at 7 p.m. Monday evening and lasting until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 9 a.m.

The current forecast from the NWS predicts a 20% chance of snow for Tuscaloosa County after noon on Tuesday, with little or no snow accumulation expected.

With the winter weather having potential impacts on travel, the following institutions have announced changes to their schedules:

  • Tuscaloosa County School System — all school system offices will be closed on Tuesday.
  • Tuscaloosa City Schools — all school system offices will be closed on Tuesday.
  • Shelton State Community College — both campuses will be closed on Tuesday.
  • Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority — All facilities closed on Tuesday.
  • Stillman College — E-Learning & Virtual Work Day for Tuesday.
