  1. Three Anchorage residents filed a lawsuit on Friday challenging the new political district known as Senate Seat L, as drawn by the Alaska Redistricting Board. Their lawsuit objects to having part of East Anchorage, a racially diverse area, lumped in with part of the predominately white Eagle River. The plaintiffs say the pairings "inexplicably ignored the demographic, economic, and geographic characteristics of these communities and the lack of meaningful contiguity." (Must Read Alaska)
  2. A man was hurt in a Saturday shooting that took place at a home in the Spenard neighborhood, Anchorage police say. Officers responded to the 1300 block of West 39th Avenue, where it appeared a group of people had gotten into an altercation that led to the shooting. The adult male victim and another member of the group left the home in a vehicle and called authorities from a nearby location. (Anchorage Daily News)
  3. The Anchorage Police Department has obtained a misdemeanor warrant for the escape of 32-year-old Austin T. Buckles, who walked away from the Cordova Center halfway house. He was serving time for shoplifting and criminal mischief. If you have information regarding Buckles’ whereabouts, please call non-emergency Police Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1). (Nixle)
