- On January 1, 2021, Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. will discontinue the Safety First program and return to its previous model, in which ADP Ambassadors patrol as the "eyes and ears" of downtown. Members of the downtown community may continue to contact ADP Ambassadors at (907) 277-0141 for general safety issues but should contact 311 or 911 as appropriate for suspected criminal activity. - On Wednesday, a pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle before dawn in Anchorage’s Mountain View neighborhood. Officers were called to North Bliss Street near Thompson Avenue at 9:48 a.m., police said in an online statement. The adult pedestrian had been seriously injured by a vehicle, and police said at 12:35 p.m. that the person died. (Anchorage Daily News)
- The Chugach Electric Association Board of Directors has appointed 15 community members to serve on a Member Advisory Council (MAC). The MAC is designed to advise the board as an ad hoc committee on a variety of topics including how to get more engagement from Chugach members, identifying candidates for board seats and election committees, and providing input on emerging issues facing the electric industry. - On January 5th at around 10:20 am, the Alaska Department of Public Safety will be running a test of the Alaska Amber Alert System. The Emergency Alert System will activate statewide, airing the test on all broadcast radio, cable, television stations. (Facebook)
