Here are the top stories in Anchorage today:
- The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra is back with Silent Film Night. On Jan. 8th, the ASO will present one of the world's first action-adventure films, The Mark of Zorro, as it was intended to be seen - with the original 1920 score performed live. The performance will take place in the Atwood Concert Hall at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. (Broadway World)
- Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson released a statement on Tuesday regarding the fluoridation of the city’s water. Bronson decided to stop the fluoridation while visiting the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility Eklutna Water Treatment Plant on Oct. 1, turning it off for about five hours. City code requires the fluoridation of Anchorage’s water supply. (Alaska Public Media News)
- An Anchorage man was sentenced to 65 years in prison on Tuesday for a 2016 shooting that left one person dead near downtown. Tommy Rumph Jr., now 36, was found guilty by a jury last year on charges of first- and second-degree murder and misconduct involving a controlled substance. Rumph's attorney, assistant public defender Julia Moudy, said he plans to appeal the sentence. (Yahoo)
