Here are the top stories today in Anchorage:

  1. Supply chain bottlenecks are holding up winter gear in Anchorage. The demand for winter outdoor gear is high, causing a need for waitlists as consumers have a tough time in their search. Darren Prokop, a professor of logistics at the University of Alaska Anchorage, said the increased demand for outdoor gear is just one part of the picture and it’s important to consider the myriad steps in the complex, finely tuned supply chains that get those products to Alaska. He believes the chaos in the supply chain likely won’t be resolved until uncertainty over things like potential lockdowns or worker shortages quiets down. (Alaska Public Media News)
  2. A man was shot to death in East Anchorage early Monday morning. Officers were called to the 300 block of Krane Drive near Turpin Street at 6:56 a.m. on a report of a shooting and found a man dead outside. In a statement, police said "the suspect remained on scene and was cooperative with police; he will be transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning." (Anchorage Daily News)
  3. Take a look at some Anchorage area pets who are in need of a forever home. There are a lot of cats and dogs looking for a new home, like the adorable baby Husky, Pilot, who is available at Alaska Animal Rescue Friends Aarf. Or consider a cat like Wolverine, a beautiful Siamese Maine Coon mix that loves to hunt and spend time with family, who is available for adoption at Clear Creek Cat Rescue. (Patch)
