  1. Anchorage Assemblywoman Meg Zaletel has taken on the role of interim executive director with The Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness. Zaletel currently represents Anchorage Assembly District 4, a midtown area, and has been a negotiator on behalf of the Assembly to the Office of the Mayor on issues surrounding homelessness and the mayor’s plan to form up a navigation center to help people get back on their feet. The former director of the homelessness coalition, Jasmine Boyle, resigned in early November to take a position at another nonprofit in Anchorage. (Must Read Alaska)
  2. The University Of Alaska Anchorage has a job opening available for a CAS Academic & Student Support Administrative Assistant. This full-time position is classified as an Administrative Generalist 3 and is crucial to maintaining academic and student support for multiple departments in one or more divisions within the College of Arts and Sciences.   3. The Sullivan Arena Shelter has replaced Zach Zears as its director, less than two months after he started in his job. Shawn Hays, who previously oversaw the shelter’s operations as mass care lead while working for the city before she was fired last month, replaced Zears as director on Tuesday. She comes to the shelter at a crucial time as temperatures around Anchorage have dropped, forcing many campers indoors. On Tuesday, the Sullivan exceeded its capacity of 420 by over 70 people, according to the city’s shelter dashboard. (Alaska Public Media News)
