After losing most of its grants last spring, the library has now seen multiple awards reinstated or newly granted, supporting staff hours and the return of workshops and other programming.

• Haines' last Assembly meeting of the year likely won't be a short one: Dec. 16 preview with Will Steinfeld (khns.org) — Tonight’s Haines Borough Assembly meeting is the only one this month and is packed with issues that could affect local heli-skiing rules, lobbying strategy, and nonprofit funding. Members will weigh GPS data requirements for heli-ski operators, whether to keep paying state and federal lobbyists, a $10,000 request from Chilkat Valley Preschool, and how to structure a Chilkoot Corridor bear-management working group.
