📰 News we're reading

• Regulators give more time for Alaska LNG import facility (justthenews.com) — A key LNG plant on the Kenai Peninsula just received three extra years to convert from exporting gas to importing it, a shift meant to shore up future supplies for Southcentral Alaska utilities. With Cook Inlet gas declining and Hilcorp warning of limited future output, the revamped Kenai facility could start importing LNG by 2028, directly influencing local energy reliability and costs.

• Kenai pursuing Wildwood Drive repairs (kbbi.org) — Kenai officials are moving ahead with plans to finally overhaul Wildwood Drive, long considered the city’s worst road and a key access route for nearby homes and the Wildwood Correctional Complex. The city council approved $200,000 to secure road right-of-way from the Kenai Native Association, a crucial step before partnering with the state on an estimated $1.48 million in repairs and repaving.
