• Wasilla doctor charged with possession of child sex abuse materials is missing after fire destroys home (adn.com) — A Wasilla cardiologist who recently faced serious criminal charges is now missing after a fire destroyed his home, in a case being handled through Palmer’s courts and investigated by state authorities. Troopers say other residents escaped safely, the State Fire Marshal is probing the blaze, and the defendant previously pleaded not guilty in Palmer Superior Court. 
• Five rescued typhoon dogs at Mat-Su shelter could be available for adoption soon (matsusentinel.com) — Five dogs rescued from October’s western Alaska typhoon are now at the Mat-Su Borough animal shelter near Palmer and could enter local adoption programs this week if their original owners don’t come forward. Three are at the shelter and two with foster families, and officials are urging anyone who evacuated with pets to check the Typhoon Halong Dog Rescue resources or call the hotline.
