‱ Decision nears on electricity rate increases, challenged by Skagway (chilkatvalleynews.com) — Skagway’s borough government is fighting a proposed 69.9% wholesale power rate hike tied to costly undersea cable repairs that connect Kasidaya Creek hydro to town, arguing residents should face only a small increase. The Regulatory Commission of Alaska will decide by March 13, 2026, which could mean either higher electric bills or refunds of the current 40% interim surcharge for Upper Lynn Canal customers.
