COCHISE, AZ — An Arizona second-grader is facing charges after police say he brought two guns and ammunition with him to school this week, according to authorities.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office was called to Cochise Elementary School on Monday after school officials said they found a weapon in a student's backpack. Authorities went to the school and met with officials and the 7-year-old boy. Deputies later found two guns and ammunition inside the child's backpack.

Authorities contacted the boy's parents and gave him a juvenile referral for charges of misconduct with a weapon and a minor in possession of a firearm.
