Arizona 9-Year-Old Charged After Being Accused Of Taking Gun to School
The Pinal County Attorney's Office charged the child with two class 6 felonies.

FLORENCE, AZ — An Arizona 9-year-old has been charged by the Pinal County Attorney’s Office after being accused of bringing a firearm to campus at a Queen Creek school in August, the Office of the Pinal County Attorney confirmed to Patch Tuesday.
The incident, which was investigated by the Queen Creek Police Department, occurred on August 25 at Legacy Traditional School—Queen Creek, officials said.
After reviewing evidence in the case, the Pinal County Attorney’s Office charged the child with two class 6 felonies: Minor in Possession of a Firearm and Interference with or Disruption of an Educational Institution, the office said.

The Pinal County Attorney’s Office also concluded that there is no reasonable likelihood of conviction against the child’s parents for any crime.
“Given the inherent danger involved with a gun being on a school campus, PCAO must take this seriously,” County Attorney Kent Volkmer said. “However, it is important to appreciate that the juvenile justice system is focused on rehabilitation and correcting behavior and that will be our focus.”
