Arizona Hits Record-High Gas Prices, Again

The average cost of a gallon of gas in Maricopa County is now over $5 per gallon, according to AAA.

PHOENIX, AZ — Gas prices in Arizona hit another record high on Wednesday and are expected to continue increasing ahead of the Memorial Day holiday, according to AAA.

The average cost of a gallon of gas in Arizona was $4.82 on Wednesday, the record high in the state, according to AAA. Prices in Phoenix averaged $5.02 on Wednesday, up from $5 the previous day, $4.79 a week ago, $4.56 a month ago and $3.14 a year ago.

The average cost of a gallon of gas across the nation as of Wednesday was $4.56 per gallon.

Arizona ranked No. 10 in the nation as of Tuesday for highest gas prices, with California leading at an average cost of $6.02 per gallon.

Maricopa was the only county in Arizona that was averaging more than $5 per gallon as of Wednesday, with Mojave at second-highest at an average of $4.79 per gallon.

Gas in Pima County is considerably less expensive than the state average, at $4.49 per gallon.
