Fish without a license on Saturday across Arizona to celebrate National Fishing and Boating Week.

ARIZONA — Arizona anglers can fish for free this Saturday in celebration of National Fishing and Boating Week.

Anyone can fish Arizona waters without a fishing license this Saturday, June 4, Arizona's Free Fishing Day, the Arizona Game and Fish Department announced in a news release.

“Whether you’re a seasoned angler who wants to introduce a newcomer to the sport, or someone who’s always been interested but never took that next step, this is the perfect time to get outdoors and experience what fishing in Arizona is all about,” Julie Carter, aquatic wildlife branch chief said in the release.

Arizona fishing licenses, which are required when fishing public waters in the state any day besides Saturday, start at $37 for residents 18 and older. Combination hunting and fishing licenses for kids aged 10-17 are $5. Children younger than 10 can fish for free all year long.

Arizona uses the money it gets from fishing licenses to fund its conservation programs, including fisheries management, habitat protection and fishing education.
