The unusual pair was taken in by Arizona Humane Society after their owner was arrested. The society made sure to keep the friends together.

Dogs and pigs don't always get along so well, but the aptly named Timon and Pumbaa clearly have a loving bond and enjoy spending time together. They now live together at Better Piggies Rescue in Cave Creek.

ARIZONA — A pair of unlikely best friends have found a new home together at Better Piggies Rescue, thanks to efforts from the Arizona Humane Society.

Timon and Pumbaa, named after characters from "The Lion King," came to the humane society after their owner was arrested on charges unrelated to animal cruelty, according to a news release from the society.

While dogs and pigs don't always gets along, Timon and Pumbaa clearly enjoyed spending time together during their stay at the humane society shelter. Pumbaa even allowed Timon to ride on his back, the society said.

The humane society was unable to provide the care that Pumbaa required because he has some medical issues, the society said.

The society didn't want to separate the pair and break up their obvious bond, so it reached out to Better Piggies Rescue to ask if it could take in both of them. The rescue agreed.
