ARIZONA — Gov. Doug Ducey is holding a press conference Thursday at which he's expected to provide updates to the state's coronavirus response amid an ongoing spike in cases.
Last week, at the urging of local mayors and leaders, Ducey announced that he would give authority to cities to set their own laws for mask wearing. Multiple cities enacted such laws, including Phoenix, Scottsdale, Yuma and Tucson.
The uptick of coronavirus cases continues to worry health experts and hospital officials. According to the latest data released by the Arizona Department of Health Services, 88 percent of the state's capacity of Adult Intensive Care Unit beds are in use, leaving 198 available. To date, the state has recorded more than 63,000 cases and 1,490 deaths.
