• Pombier officially is Chandler's top boss, not ‘acting' (chandlernews.com) — Chandler’s City Council has officially named John Pombier city manager, dropping his “acting” title but giving him a trial-style contract through June 2027. The decision, made without a national search, has sparked debate among council members over transparency, public input, and how best to choose Chandler’s long-term leadership while outlining Pombier’s salary, severance options, and residency requirements.
   

• Another chipmaker makes a 5G exit as NXP closes Arizona plant (sdxcentral.com) — NXP is shutting down its Echo Fab semiconductor plant in Chandler, ending its production of gallium nitride-based power amplifiers for 5G equipment. The company cites weak global 5G rollout and poor returns for mobile operators, a move that could impact local jobs and Chandler’s role in the wireless chip supply chain while also tightening the global market for advanced GaN power devices.
   

• Chandler's Will Mencl named ALL-USA Football Team QB finalist (usatodayhss.com) — A standout season from Chandler High quarterback Will Mencl has earned him a finalist spot for the ALL-USA West and national ALL-USA Football Team, putting Chandler football squarely in the national spotlight. The junior has piled up more than 4,500 yards and 50 touchdowns this year, drawing major college offers while leading the Wolves’ high-powered offense under the Friday night lights in Chandler.
