• Verde Village pond may become a park (journalaz.com) — County leaders are exploring turning the Verde Village Duck Pond in Cottonwood into a dry public park, modeled after Windmill Park in Cornville, as the pond’s ditch water supply ends in 2028. Officials must still study environmental, structural, and funding issues, but say the change could prevent blight and finally bring a formal county park to this nearby low‑income community.
