• Revamped hotel to house those facing homelessness opens in Flagstaff (knau.org) — A former hotel in Flagstaff has been transformed into the Lantern, providing private rooms and support for more than 100 seniors and medically vulnerable residents facing homelessness. Backed partly by state housing funds, the project expands Flagstaff Shelter Services’ capacity and offers a warmer, safer alternative to group shelters during the city’s harsh winters. Local leaders say the model could guide similar efforts statewide.

• Arizona traffic officials prepare for upcoming winter weather (azfamily.com) — With Flagstaff averaging about 90 inches of snow each season, state transportation officials are ramping up winter preparations and reminding drivers how to safely share the road with snowplows. ADOT is stressing extra distance, no passing, and patience so plows can keep northern Arizona highways clear when storms hit.
