• Coroner ID's man killed in late-night apartment shooting (inmaricopa.com) — A 22-year-old man has been identified as the person killed in last week’s late-night shooting inside a Maricopa apartment near Village Parkway, Loma and Smith-Enke Roads. Police say he was the ex-boyfriend of a resident and subject to an order of protection when a confrontation with her current boyfriend turned deadly. The investigation by Maricopa detectives remains active and no charges have been filed so far. 
• esVolta battery facility gets greenlight from Pinal County, with Court Rich, Rose Law Group's director of energy & utility infrastructure and the firm's co-founder, presenting the case (roselawgroupreporter.com) — A massive 800‑megawatt battery storage project has been approved just south of the city of Maricopa, near the Nissan test track, positioning the area as a key energy hub. The Cactus Wren facility will store electricity when prices are low and feed it back to the grid during peak demand, which backers say could help stabilize costs for nearby communities.
• Sowing the seeds of an Arizona agricultural partnership (arizona.edu) — A new $3 million statewide agriculture innovation hub will unite Arizona’s three public universities to tackle farming challenges like soil health, water use and crop resilience, with roots that include a leader raised on a farm in Maricopa. The Arizona Hub for Agriculture Innovation will connect researchers, industry and state agencies to develop practical tools for growers. Local farmers could eventually see new technologies and support shaped by this work.
