Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:

  1. The 2023 Gateway Celebrity Fight Night in Phoenix raised over $3M for cancer research, with dozens of celebrities, athletes, and medical professionals gathering at the JW Marriott Resort and Spa Desert Ridge to support early-phase clinical cancer research. The event featured performances by top musicians and dance troupes, as well as a cocktail reception, silent auction, elegant dinner, and live auction of luxury items. All proceeds from the event will go directly towards early-phase clinical cancer research. (Arizona's Family)
  2. Small People Preschool in Phoenix was evicted on Apr. 3 after the building it was operating out of was purchased by an investor who asked them to move out by Mar. 31. The preschool's owner, Jo Clute, is fighting the eviction in court and hoping their new facility will be completed soon. However, many of the children attending the preschool are on scholarships and government subsidies and cannot transfer to another location, leaving their families in a difficult situation. 3. On Tuesday, Phoenix Vice Mayor Yassamin Ansari announced her intention to run for Arizona’s third congressional district. The seat is currently held by Ruben Gallego who is planning to run for Senate. Ansari has served as the city's Vice Mayor since January and has been a member of the City Council for two years. She made history as the youngest woman ever elected to the Phoenix City Council and the first Iranian American elected to public office in the state. (Yahoo! News)
