3 Dead, 2 Officers Injured In Shootout At Phoenix Hotel: Police
A gunman wearing a tactical vest and helmet walked out of the hotel and began firing at random, according to reports.
PHOENIX, AZ — Three people are dead and multiple others were injured, including two police officers, during a shooting at a Phoenix hotel Sunday night, according to authorities and reports.
Phoenix police confirmed the shooting happened near 26th Avenue and Deer Valley Road. According to a report by Fox 10 Phoenix, citing police, the shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. when a gunman wearing a tactical vest and helmet walked out of a nearby hotel and started firing at random.
When police arrived, the gunman opened fire on several patrol vehicles, according to an AZFamily report. Two police officers were shot and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

One officer was shot in the shoulder and the other was injured by shrapnel, AZFamily reported. The gunman also tried lighting a Molotov cocktail and throwing it at a nearby business but it did not catch fire.
Two citizens were killed and three others were injured during the shooting, police said. According to Fox 10, the three injured victims were treated at a hospital and released.

The gunman was also fatally shot during the encounter, police said.
Deer Valley Road from the Interstate 17 overpass to 27th Avenue will remain closed while police investigate the shooting, authorities said. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes.
